When you want to use it over the area needed to hide, you have to press the tip slightly against the surface and slide it. It comes in a wound coated with a spool.Ī tape dispenser holds this liquid paper. ![]() How Does Correction Tape Work?Ĭorrection tape is mainly a tear-resistant adhesive made of liquid paper. These things create a permanent bond between each other. What is Correction Tape Made of?Ĭorrection tapes or white-out tapes are generally made with a thin layer of vinyl acetate polymer material on an adhesive base coated with silicone or rubber particles for better adhesion. But these are non-toxic, and there are no harmful chemicals in them. These are commonly known as white-out tape or correction tape. That’s why in this modern era, using that same formula, liquid papers are being produced. However, back then, the liquid fluid was proved to be toxic due to its harmful chemicals. ![]() So, in need of covering those mistakes, correction fluid was developed. It was when typewriters were first invented, and the writers made lots of mistakes while typing. In 1951, Betty Nesmith Graham invented the correction fluid to cover the errors while typing. You might be thinking, “How can I remove correction tape from paper without damaging it?” But what if you need to erase that tape on paper? When I did this I wasn't sure I had it right, but I've used it for a couple of days since, and it's working fine. One of the most common tools we use to cover up our writing errors is correction tape. Holding a thumb over the pins to keep the tape threaded, gently gently, gradually pull the white guide *just enough* to seat the white guide unit. Then, with the flat side of the white guide unit in contact with the SHINY side of the unused tape (make sure you've got this right!), seat the tape onto the white guide unit such that it runs through the set of guides on each side of the guide unit. The used waste tape runs along the inside of its pin in the same orientation as the unused tape, and winds straight onto its take-up reel. The unused tape comes straight off its reel onto the slanted side of its pin, then rolls 'onto its back' to move flat through the white guide unit. Seat the tape onto the pins as in the photo above. Fear not - you will extend this in a bit. Wind up 'a bit too much' tape, so there is not enough slack for use. Lift out the blue disc holding the reel of unused wite-out tape. Remove the white guide-unit from the case.Ĭarefully remove the tape from the white guide-unit. This is all in one 'step' because you won't be able to navigate once you get started.
